1. About us

These terms apply to revision products supplied by Theory Revision Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”).

2. Our revision products

We provide online driving theory revision materials. Our current products include revision for:

LGV multiple-choice theory tests;
LGV hazard perception tests; and
Driver CPC Module 2 case study tests.

The content included in your purchase will be described on our website before you place your order.

3. Placing an order

When you place an order, you confirm that:

the information you provide is accurate;
you are legally able to enter into a contract with us; and
you agree to these terms.

Your order is accepted when we send you an order confirmation or make your account available, whichever happens first.

The price shown at checkout is the total amount you will pay. Theory Revision Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so VAT is not charged.

Unless clearly stated otherwise, purchases are one-off payments and do not automatically renew.

4. Account access

Your account will remain active for 90 days from the date payment is made.

The 90-day period begins immediately, whether or not you log in or use the revision materials. Any unused access will expire at the end of that period.

Account access is for the individual registered user only. You must not share your login details or allow another person to use your account.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Please contact us promptly if you believe somebody else has accessed your account.

We may suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe that:

login details have been shared;
the account is being misused;
our content is being copied or distributed without permission; or
these terms have otherwise been seriously breached.

Where appropriate, we will give you an opportunity to explain or correct the issue before closing your account.

5. Cancellation and refunds

Our revision products are digital content supplied online.

Consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period for online purchases. Access to our digital content is provided immediately after purchase. Before completing your purchase, you must expressly consent to receiving immediate access and acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once access to the digital content begins.

This does not affect your legal rights if the digital content is faulty, not as described or does not meet the standards required by law.

If you experience a technical problem or believe that the product is faulty, please contact us at help@theoryrevision.co.uk. We will investigate and, where appropriate, repair the problem, provide replacement access, extend your access or issue a full or partial refund in accordance with your legal rights.

Refunds will not normally be provided simply because:

you did not use the account;
you did not complete your revision within the 90-day access period;
you changed your mind after digital access began and you agreed to waive the cancellation right; or
you did not pass your test.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

6. No guarantee of passing

Our products are designed to help you prepare for the relevant theory test. We cannot guarantee that you will pass any test or achieve a particular result.

Your result will depend on factors including the amount and quality of your revision, your understanding of the material and your performance during the official test.

Practice scores, progress information and mock-test results are for guidance only and do not guarantee the result of an official test.

7. DVSA material

This product includes the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (“DVSA”) revision question bank.

The DVSA has given permission for the reproduction of Crown copyright material. DVSA does not accept responsibility for the accuracy of the reproduction.

Permission to reproduce DVSA material does not mean that DVSA approves, recommends or guarantees our product unless expressly stated otherwise.

8. Ownership and permitted use

The revision platform, design, software and original content are owned by or licensed to Theory Revision Ltd. DVSA and Crown copyright material remain the property of their respective owners.

Your purchase gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the product for your own revision during the 90-day access period.

You must not:

copy, record, photograph, download or reproduce content, except where the product expressly allows it;
share, sell, publish or distribute the content;
provide other people with access to your account;
use automated tools to extract content;
attempt to bypass security or access restrictions; or
use the content to create or support a competing product or service.

9. Updates and availability

We may update the revision materials to reflect changes to official question banks, test requirements, guidance or the operation of our platform.

We aim to keep the platform available, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access at all times. Access may occasionally be affected by maintenance, updates, faults or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If a significant problem prevents you from accessing the product, please contact us. Where appropriate, we may extend your access period or provide another remedy.

10. Our responsibility to you

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for:

death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
a breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded.

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

Our products are supplied for personal revision. We are not responsible for business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, opportunity or business.

Nothing in these terms affects the rights given to consumers by law.

11. Privacy

We will handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when necessary, including to reflect changes to our products, the law or our business.

The terms that apply to your purchase will normally be the version in force when you place your order. Any change that materially disadvantages an existing customer will not apply retrospectively unless required by law.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you will retain any mandatory protections provided by the law where you live and may bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable law.

Your practice scores, progress information and mock-test results are used to provide the revision service and help you monitor your progress.

These results are for revision purposes only. They do not guarantee that you will pass an official test.

We will not normally share your revision results with an employer, training provider or another person unless:

you have agreed to this;
the account has been arranged through that organisation and you were informed that it would receive progress information;
sharing is necessary to provide the agreed service; or
we are legally required to do so.

If access is purchased for you by an employer or training provider, you should be told clearly before using the account what information that organisation will be able to see.

6. Marketing communications

We may send you marketing emails if you have consented or where we are otherwise permitted to do so by law.

Marketing choices must be separate from your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions. You do not have to agree to marketing to purchase or use our products.

You can stop receiving marketing at any time by:

using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email; or
contacting us at help@theoryrevision.co.uk.

We may keep a limited suppression record after you unsubscribe so that we can respect your request and avoid contacting you again.

Account messages, payment confirmations, security notices and service updates are not marketing. We may continue sending these where necessary to provide your account.

We will not sell your personal information to other organisations for their own marketing.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies.

Our usual retention periods are:

Account access: The account remains active for 90 days from payment.
Revision history and detailed account activity: Normally deleted or anonymised within 24 months after account access expires, unless needed to resolve a complaint, investigate misuse or meet another legal requirement.
Purchase, invoice and transaction records: Normally retained for up to six years after the relevant financial year or transaction, where necessary for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
Customer service and complaint records: Normally retained for up to three years after the matter is closed, or longer if a legal dispute is ongoing.
Security and technical logs: Normally retained for up to 12 months, unless required for an investigation.
Marketing information: Kept until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent or the information is no longer needed.
Suppression records: We may retain your email address on a do-not-contact list for as long as necessary to respect your marketing choice.

We may retain information for longer where required by law or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

Information that has been securely anonymised may be retained for statistical and service-improvement purposes because it can no longer identify you.

11. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

protected or hashed passwords;

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and should contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

12. Children and younger users

Our LGV and Driver CPC products are primarily intended for people old enough to take the relevant tests. Future car-theory products may be used by people under 18.

We aim to present privacy information in clear language that younger users can understand and to collect only the information needed to provide the service.

A child under 13 must not create an account or provide personal information without permission from a parent or legal guardian.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances where appropriate permission was required but not provided, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

13. Automated decision-making

We do not currently use personal information to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you solely by automated means.

Your revision scores may be calculated automatically, but they are provided only to help you monitor your progress and do not determine whether you can take or pass an official test.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
ask us to delete your information;
ask us to restrict how we use your information;
object to particular uses of your information;
receive certain information in a portable format;
withdraw consent where we rely on consent; and
complain about how we use your information.

Some rights only apply in particular circumstances and may be limited by legal requirements.

You will not normally have to pay to exercise these rights. We may ask for information to confirm your identity before responding.
